This week was pretty momentous to me in more ways than one! When I came to Australia seven years ago I thought I would be able to work as a Speech and Language Therapist, after four years at university, but I was wrong. My qualifications did not transfer across and I couldn't afford to do the top up courses I needed. I applied for jobs in a similar area, until the savings I moved over with drained away. I was desperate for any job and I secured one in an insurance call centre. This was the beginning of the end for me as far as my career and working happiness was concerned! I have been stuck in insurance ever since and have hated pretty much every minute of it!
I have dreamt for a long time about leaving and actually handed my notice in three times previously but never got to leave for different reasons. However, after taking the plunge in deciding to become an author and getting very positive feedback on my first book, I actually handed my final resignation in and it was accepted. So I am now officially a stay at home mum to my little girl and a children's author. It is my dream and I couldn't be any happier with my decision. It is definitely a risk but it is one I will work hard at to make sure it pays off. Life is too short to be physically unwell at the thought of going to work and this is my chance to make the most of my life for myself and my family and I intend to enjoy every second.
