Apologies for not updating the blog for a couple of weeks..
After months of delays and printing errors and shipping delays the first order of my book has finally arrived! It was an absolutely amazing feeling to receive them and see it in print for the first time. It was even better to be able to read it to my daughter and see her carry it round the house and kiss her mummy in it!
When I first embarked on my journey as an author I knew it would be a challenge. It was totally new and I was entering an industry that I had very little idea about. However, I have realized just how much there is to learn and it is crazy! Consider the fact that I also have a tiny target market compared to most children's authors and it adds to the difficulty! However, I have still managed to secure some really exciting developments over the last two weeks, which you may or may not have already seen on my social media.
I have big plans of how the next few weeks and months will pan out and I know I will continue to learn so much. Despite the difficulty of the small target market I am so passionate about my book and know it can be helpful for so many reasons. I am proud of what I have achieved in the last two weeks and I know I can do a lot more if I work hard.
I know I am not the next J.K. Rowling and will never be as famous, sell anywhere near the quantity of books she has or make the money she has but it would make me happy if I hear that my book has helped children to understand the process. I want them to be proud of themselves for being little miracles and coming to be against all the odds and negative statistics and proud of their parents for being so god damn determined and resilient in the first place. I want both parties to realise how much love there is between them and the very special bond they have and if my book can encourage that it will make it all worthwhile.
Nothing good ever came easy as they say!
